1 General - All Competitions
Members must have paid the annual subscription for the current season before entries will be accepted for any club competition.
No image, or similar image, shall have been used previously in the same competition [see below for definition of competition].
All entries may be processed and/or printed by the author, trade processed and/or printed, or produced digitally unless otherwise specified in the individual competition rules.
All digital manipulation must be by the author.
A maximum of three entries per member will be permitted in each competition unless otherwise specified below. Members are asked to identify [by a cross on the spot for slides] one entry for withdrawal should the overall entry be deemed too large.
Any entry that does not satisfy the rules shall be excluded.
2 General – Slides
Slides shall be no larger than 35mm format.
Slides may be glass mounted for protection.
Slides must be correctly spotted and bear the title and author's name.
Entries, accompanied by a completed entry form shall be submitted to the Internal Competition Secretary at least seven days in advance of the competition date. Late entries may be accepted at the sole discretion of Internal Competition Secretary.
3 General – Prints
Prints, excluding mount, shall be no larger than 40 x 50 cm.
Prints shall be mounted on card no larger than 40 x 50 cm, and bear the title and author's name on the back.
A completed entry form shall be submitted to the Internal Competition Secretary at least seven days in advance of the competition date. Prints shall be presented at the venue no later than 7:30pm on the date of the competition. Late entries may be accepted at the sole discretion of Internal Competition Secretary.

5 Competition marking
Judges will be asked to mark entries out of twenty points. In the regular competitions, these marks will be accumulated over the year, to give results for the annual trophies. At the end of the year, the lowest three marks for each entrant will be deleted to arrive at the final total.
6 Open Slide Competition
This year, there will not be separate groups for the slide competitions, as the standard was so high in both groups last year.
At the discretion of the committee, the original group B trophy may be awarded in addition to the winner's trophy.
The number of rounds in each competition will be announced in the programme
7 Open Monochrome Print Competition
The entrants will compete in a single group.
The number of rounds in each competition will be announced in the programme. A winner's trophy will be awarded at the end of the season.
8 Open Colour Print Competition
The entrants will compete in a single group.
The number of rounds in each competition will be announced in the programme. A winner's trophy will be awarded at the end of the season.
9 Digital Imaging Print Trophy
Monochrome and colour print competition open to all members. Entrants will compete in a single group.
All entries must have been printed digitally.
The Digital Imaging Print Trophy will be awarded to the winner.
A special section may be notified early in this season – to be confirmed.
10 Take Five
Slide competition open to all members.
A maximum of five slides per member will be permitted.
Set subjects will be nominated in the annual programme if appropriate.
The first three places will be announced.
Competition is judged by club members.
11 Morris Photo-centre Trophy & Vernon Brooke Trophy
Monochrome print competitions open to all members.
All entries must be non- digitally processed and printed by the author.
The Morris Photo-centre or Vernon Brooke trophy will be awarded to the winner.
12 It's a Knock Out
Slide competition open to all members.
The slides will be marked by members attending the competition, entrant or not.
The first ten places will be announced.
13 Three on a Theme [Slide & Print]
Separate slide and print competitions open to all members.
A maximum of two sets of three slides and/or prints per member will be permitted.
Slides and prints should be marked Left, Centre and Right to show the position in which they should be viewed. The titles should indicate your chosen theme for each set of three.
The following trophies will be awarded to the winners:
* Slides - Trevor Jones Medal
* Prints - Club Cup
14 Ward Trophies [Single & Multi Projector Audio Visual]
Single Projector:
* Intended for novice workers at audio visual presentations.
* A maximum of one entry per member, not to exceed 6 minutes in length.
Multi Projector:
* Intended for advanced workers at audio visual presentations.
* A maximum of one entry per member, not to exceed 12 minutes in length.
A winner's trophy will be awarded for each category.
Digital Trophy Print Competition Rules
( approved on 15.01.03 )
1. All work must be original and copyright
held by the author
2. A maximum of four prints per member; entry
on the night
3. Three prints may be open subjects; one
print will be based on a provided negative/slide
4. The club will endeavour to ensure the provided
image is available to all those requesting it, at least six weeks before
the competition
5. The judge will be asked to provide a single
negative/slide/digital image
OR
The provided image will be selected by a committee member from his or
her own work; the committee member will be excluded from this aspect of
the competition.
OR
The provided image will be selected by a committee member from work submitted
by members; a maximum of one image per member will be allowed; members
will be required to confirm they have not previously worked on any image
offered for selection; the image will be chosen by 'drawing from the hat'
6. Photographers are invited to scan, manipulate
and represent the provided negative/slide image as imaginatively and creatively
as possible. It will be acceptable to add other elements to the image,
but the overall integrity of the provided picture must remain as the predominantly
recognisable core of the final image.
7. The club will prepare or the judge will
bring a copy of the original image as a reference print. 8. The competition
trophy will be awarded on the judge's overall choice from all prints;
a certificate will be awarded for the judge's choice from the 'provided
image' pictures
